Education is provided based on the lived experiences, challenges, barriers and successes of individuals with ABI/TBI. This knowledge informs the way in which assessment and referrals are made to improve quality of life, health and wellness.

Primary Care Professionals including physicians, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech language pathologists, rehabilitation practitioners and others, have found it important to learn from the changes that occur with their patients once that have reintegrated into the community. Brain Injury Association Peterborough Region (BIAPR) strives to provide open opportunities for dialogue.

BIAPR, founded in 1988, is proud to carry on the tradition of learning-from-experience; families and caregivers learn from one another. While every experience is unique to the individual, there are patterns and commonalities. Our members share and educate us through their personal lived experience with brain injury.

BIAPR is a proud affiliate of Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA). Educational opportunities offered by OBIA form the bases of education for all staff involved in frontline contact with individuals with ABI and their care partners.
