Causes

Acquired brain injuries are often caused by the following:

  • motor vehicle collisions: 50%
  • falls: 15%
  • bicycle incidents: 10%
  • sports, assaults, and other traumatic causes: 10%
  • medical conditions or diseases such as aneurysms, tumors, meningitis: 10%
  • asphyxia, poisoning, and other toxins such as carbon monoxide: 5%
